The redesign of the FAFSA page - it looks good! Plus links there to scholarships and grants.

Hi, Scholarship and Grant Seekers!
Pavel Ĺ evela / Wikimedia Commons

I went to the official FAFSA page today to see if I could find out which scholarships they have on their site.

I knew they had some, but wanted to get specific.

I found the FAFSA Grants and Scholarships page there which is here, and they list the Federal Pell Grant, the FSEOG Grants (Federal Supplemental Education Opportunity Grants), the TEACH grants, and the Iraq and Afghanistan Service Grants.

These definitely are worth a look.

They also have PDF's there you can download to your computer. (Hint: put these on your desktop so you can remember where they are, unless you are used to another method. This works well for me.)

Their Quick Links on this page look good too. These include: Aid for Military Families, Loans, Work-Study Jobs, and Basic Eligibility Criteria.

So... if you have not read all these pages at the official FAFSA site, I would recommend them for sure.

All for now,

Betsyanne

And good luck finding a grant or scholarship!

My big list of Art scholarships A plus some art advice.

So, are you an artist? Do you know one? Here is some advice and some websites for you.
Altered Art by Vicci the Weather Pixie at the moon stars and paper blog.

First, know that many art schools have in-house scholarships. If you have chosen an art school already, then check with the Art Department or your advisor to find out what the school offers. They also may have residencies, work-study programs, graduate assistantships, and more.

You can sometimes also find these resources at your school's website.

Do you have an online portfolio? It can only help you. Of course, you will probably be making one at your school too, like teachers do. It will be a valuable tool to help you get a job or clients later on also.

Have you been in a show yet? Get some work together and apply to be in a public show or enter some local contests. Join a local art group or two. These things help you get noticed and meet other artists and collectors too.

And it does NOT hurt to read up on what you love.

Here are some online resources to help you too.

Sources for Individual Artists - from the WomenArts site.

The Kentucky Foundation for Women Artist Enrichment Page

WKU in Bowling Green, Kentucky offers the Jack Kent Cooke Graduate Arts Award, and has links tot the Trans Artists site (an Artist in Residence Guide) and many more scholarships. They have a great art program there. Here is another scholarship page.

Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut offers scholarships and assistantships. Check this page out to learn more.

Yale also has this scholarship posted on their site. It is a $10,000 scholarship from The Gallery Collection. The winner designs a greeting card that they pick. The deadline for this one is January 6, 2013.

The GoCollege site has a Creative scholarships page (Art) which mostly gives advice on how to apply for scholarships.

Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts has a Graduate School of Design. They offer aid to both US and International students. Their financial aid page is here.

The Art Institute of Philadelphia has a great scholarship page here.

Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts has a great program. They also offer scholarships. Here is their Assistance Programs page and the VSU Scholarships page.

Scholarships for Emerging Artists

St. Olaf College has scholarships for exceptional artists. They are located in Northfield, Minnesota.

Virginia Commonwealth University offers many links to scholarships and grants for their school here.

Grants for Art Students - from the College Scholarships.org site

James Madison University offers Art scholarships here. They are located in Harrisonburg, Virginia.

The Fulbright program also includes artists.

The Oedb site includes some great art college scholarship links.

The Scholarships.com site has a great list here of Art Scholarships.

The American Center for Artists lists links on this page.

Mira's List looks like a good source for scholarships and other opportunities.

Many schools now offer both online and in-person classes. Let me know what you find out, and other schools you would like to add to this list.

Scholarships: try all avenues, including the school you are interested in.

Hello, scholarship and grant hopefuls!
A signpost for getting money. From 401K (212) on Flickr.

A word of advice for today.

Besides checking out the scholarship sites online, be sure to check directly with your school to find private scholarships good only at your school.

These scholarships may not be advertised, and are available only if you are getting ready to attend a certain school. You must ask an advisor about them.

These kinds of scholarships are sometimes available for the arts (you try out or show a portfolio) or they can be needs-based (fill out an application and then you find out if you are eligible).

Sometimes local businesses offer scholarships and want the recipient to live locally or go to a local school.

So... ask! Get an appointment with an advisor or ask via email or a letter if you are attending online-online classes.

And good luck!

The Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance - it's worth a good look.

This website (the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance) contains 2,245 federal assistance programs that "include all Federal programs available to State and local governments."

Today is the first day I have seen this site. How interesting!

For my readers who want to find grants and scholarships, there is a search box on the upper right that I used to search for scholarships first. I used the word "scholarship" as my first search term. Then I put Guaranteed/Insured loans in the next box. Nothing.

Then I left the top blank and searched Training. I found a link for Native Americans to attend post-secondary schools. It tells the forms and application deadlines too.

Here is that page again:
The Catalog of Public Assistance.

I tried again, leaving the top blank and searching for Project Grants. Included here are some Graduate Fellowships, Tribal Colleges Education Equity Grants, Secondary and Two-Year Postsecondary Agriculture Education Challenge Grants, and more.

Try it out! And let me know what you find.

PS Thanks, imisidro on Yahoo, for your great answer to a Yahoo question here. You had this link in your answer, and I went to check it out. What a great suggestion. And I like how you explain about grants too. Readers, you will definitely want to check this page out too.
