We need more world understanding of different cultures!

The World Peace Gate in Seoul, Korea is by Ziggymaster and is on the Wikimedia.org site.

The Innocence of Muslims - is it a hate video? I think yes.

The recent video making fun of Mohammed and Islam called "The Innocence of Muslims" is not only a slap in the face to people who believe in Islam, but is also a badly made video.

It is hard to believe that the person that is responsible for this video has been living under a rock for the last ten years. It seems he or she wanted to create mayhem and violence - - because that's what happened last time someone made fun of Islam.

I think the point has been that Freedom of Speech does include spoofs of anything, even religion, and that is why it has not been taken off of the internet here in the U.S., as it has in other countries.

I have watched this video. I didn't like it. I am not a Muslim, but I can understand why people would dislike and even hate this video. I was curious about it, so I went to watch it yesterday. It is still on YouTube. It has trailers and then the whole (short-ish) video.

Definitely this video does NOT enhance relationships between cultures.

I am sorry this video was made. It was irresponsible.

Ridiculing other people's religion is not the way to make things better in the world. I think more education is in order to help countries understand and respect each other.

Some programs that I think HELP world peace and global understanding are:

The Rhodes Scholar Program
(which helps students from across the world and the U.S. study in different countries)

AFS and other exchange programs, and

The Peace Corps

Have you seen this video? What programs do YOU think are helping the world come together in peace?

Thanks for visiting!
