Take me to your party! |
I just got back from ConCave, a fun science fiction convention held in Bowling Green, Kentucky. (See some photos).
Then I wondered: are there scholarships or grants for people who like science fiction? Or maybe also for science fiction writers? I decided to google this question and found some answers! The main answer is, YES, there are some interesting scholarship pages that are well worth a look.
Here they are:
The Clarion Science Fiction and Fantasy Writer's Workshop in UC San Diego - this workshop has financial assistance between $500.00 and $1500.00. The financial aid section is on the site page; just scroll down. There are many available.
The University of Kansas offers a scholarship for studying OR writing science fiction. Here is that page: http://www2.ku.edu/~sfcenter/SF-Scholarship.htm.
Here is a list of Science Fiction awards: http://www.sfawardswatch.com/?page_id=3. The most famous awards are here, including the Hugo.
St. Mary's University College in England has a part-time scholarship for Science Fiction and Cult Film and Television.
There is a Writers of the Future scholarship on the L. Ron Hubbard site.
I'll bet there are even more out there. That's great!
