The Big List of Nursing Scholarship Links - Version One

The big, quality list of Nursing Scholarship Links (Version One)

These scholarship information and help site links (below) are great free resources for students who want to go to nursing school or who are already in school and would like to find more funding.

I found many “new” scholarship pages just for nursing, but they had too many ads on them, or just emphasized online schools (which may have paid these sites for listing their schools).

These sites listed below are some of the best information sites and feature lots of links to help you find money for nursing schools across the country. They are free, nationally recognized, quality sites that have many links and help for people interested in going to nursing school. I hope you find them useful.

Do you have a favorite scholarship site you would like to see added to this list? Please list it in a comment and I will go there to check it out. Thanks!

Scholarships.com’s Nursing Scholarship page

The Official FAFSA site (which has scholarships in their database)

The Nursing Scholarship at the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA)

Undergraduate AND graduate nursing programs from CollegeScholarships.com.
There are also specialty links listed here to the left on the page.

The Michigan Center for Nursing Scholarship link page

Nursing Scholarships at the Fatomei site

Nursing School grant links from the Scholarships.org site
Also covered here are Federal, Minority, and State-Funded grants.

The D.A.R. (Daughters of the American Revolution) Nursing Scholarship

The NYS Nurses Scholarships Database
Included here is the National Database for Nursing Schools and Scholarships

Nursing Scholarships listed at the NOEDb (Nursing Online Education Database)

They also have this page: 101 Little Known Scholarships for Nurses

Of course, looking at scholarships and grants for your particular area is always a great idea, as is filling out your FAFSA form at the official site.

And this looks very useful too: It is a list of the Top Ten Nursing Schools by the CNABoard.com site.

Good luck on your nursing school scholarship and career!

More great scholarship links: U.S. Veteran's Scholarships

Links for Veterans who want to go back to school.

Are you a veteran who wants to go back to school? Do you have a friend or family member who would like to go back to school or attend trade school or college, but doesn't know how?

Here are some good links I found today. There were a LOT of these links I found, compared to other searches I have done. This leads me to believe that there are even more sites out there that I will be adding to this list later on.

The G.I. Bill site - at the U.S. Department of Veteran's Affairs

The official FAFSA site

Veteran's Scholarship Links (from the University of Nevada). They warn: don't pay for scholarship sites or links. They should be free. http://www.unr.edu/stsv/veteran/scholarships.html

Veteran Scholarship links from the Scholarships.com site http://www.collegescholarships.org/scholarships/veterans.htm. This is a well-known site since 1999.

The Department for Veteran's Services official page: Scholarship Information for Veterans, Spouses and Dependants. (via Mass.gov).

The Military Scholarship Finder at Military.com. The site boasts of over 1,000 scholarships in their database.

The American Legion Scholarships page.

The AFCEA Veteran's Scholarship for veterans of Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom page. This scholarship application is online.
They also have a Disabled War Veteran Scholarship here.

AMVETS National Servicre Foundation.

Maryland Veteran Scholarships

VFW Scholarships for Veteran's children

Scholarships for Veterans from Las Positas College, California.

Scholarships for Veterans at the Department of Defense website

San Diego State Veterans Center Scholarships

Veterans and Dependants scholarships from the FinAid site

The Student Veterans of American site

Central Connecticut State University Veteran's Scholarships page

Veteran's Scholarship links from Columbia University, New York.

Many of these State, College, and University Scholarship sites have Veteran's scholarships from all over, so you don't have to be necessarily going to the State or College listed in order to get the information or apply for a Veteran's Scholarship.

There are also hints on HOW to fill out these scholarships on some of these sites.

I hope you find these links useful.

Nontrad Notes, Scholarships, and Support

Here are some notes about where to find scholarships for nontraditional students and other nontrad links.

Nontraditional students are becoming a larger and larger group all around the country and the world. They are usually older students who have taken a break from school and are now going back.

If you are a nontraditional student, you can find scholarships at the Nontrad Scholarship Pages One and Two, and also connect with other nontraditional students here at these sites:

Are you thinking of going back to school? Here are FAFSA tips and a link.

The FAFSA and FAFSA Tips

Are you thinking of going back to school next Fall? Try checking your official FAFSA page first and filling out your information.

FAFSA reports go to the school(s) you are thinking of attending. They can offer you work-study possibilities, scholarships, grants and more. You often won't find out about these opportunities unless you apply.

Here is the official link: http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/.

You can see the top 5 Filing Tips (via FAFSA Online) here:
http://www.nontradstudents.com/scholarships.html.

The deadlines for the 2011-2012 year depend on the state, but for Kentucky they deadline is the soonest possible after January 1st. Schools also have their own deadlines. Federal deadlines are June 30, 2012 for this application.

Do you want to go earlier? Check the FAFSA page for your State and school deadlines.

Remember - by going to the official FAFSA site you get the correct application and do NOT have to pay anything.

Good luck - - I hope you find lots of scholarship offers and more.

Scholarships for Writers

And this is just the tip of the proverbial iceberg!

I was surprised to find so many scholarships that were available to students who write poetry, are journalists, and want to attend a conference.

It made me think that googling your state plus "writing conference scholarship" might yield great results. Plus, you would be able to attend that writing conference much easier, with less money needed.

Also, googling Writing Scholarships (plus your state) is also a great idea. Let me know if this works. I will be trying it for the Nontraditional student State Pages later on.

Here are some sites I discovered today. Some include poetry writers and journalists. I tried to steer clear of age requirements.

State specific scholarships to add to your list

Here is a great link I found today from the College Scholarships.org site.

It is the State Specific Scholarships page. Just click on your US State, and find scholarships from there. I tested it out on my state, Kentucky. The Kentucky page featured the Higher Assistance Authority website plus current Teaching scholarship opportunities.

Also, I found out what Kentucky opportunities are offered for people who fill out their FAFSA.

Some other websites have similar pages. Here are a few:
Fastweb's Scholarships by State of Award page
Scholarships.com Scholarships by State
US Scholarship Search listings by State

Good luck in your scholarship search! Please comment here if these links helped you, or if you have another good site to add.
