Glorious Weather? Mowing, and Spring Break.

Spring is a wonderful season.
For many, including me, it's time to get out and exercise by doing things like mowing and gardening (which WILL feel better in the future, I keep telling myself!)

It may take longer to recoup after getting more active, but I think it's worth it.

For many students, it's all about getting outdoors more this time of year too. Some are going on a Spring Break trip away from school for awhile. Many are thinking about going back to school next year. And still others are thinking about taking a class or two during Summer School.

I think that there is something about Spring that brings hope to the soul. In the Spring, somehow all things seem possible.

I hope school is going well, students. Students and non-students, or student wannabes, who would like to pick my brain about scholarships, feel free to Check my Nontrads Scholarship pages:

Find Scholarships and Blogs 2014 - the best links for #FREE #scholarships and #grants

Scholarships and Grants for 2014 - my favorite listings and sites

Yes, you will find some new #scholarships and #grants for GED's, College, Universities, and Technical Schools, plus graduate student grants and fellowships this year. I will be sharing them as I find them. There are also some tried and true sites and helpful links that I love to share regularly on this blog.

Regular readers will recognize these. Are you actively looking on these sites? It's good if you are.

Here they are:

The OFFICIAL FAFSA site (check here first if you are wanting to go to college or grad school)

The Fatomei/Dr. Torres site (especially helpful for unusual and/or other resources such as graduate school scholarships, internships, and more, plus scholarships and grants) - their description of the site: "Highly competitive and prestigious undergraduate college scholarships, graduate fellowships, education grants, summer jobs & research internships, awards for high school seniors & students, women, minorities, Hispanics, African Americans, nurses, engineers, teachers studying math, science & engineering and health professions from national & international foundations. Free financial aid, student loans, prizes, stipends."

The Fastweb site: sign up here and get your personalized emails about the #scholarships YOU want to find out about.

Add a few more free #scholarship and #grant websites from the Nontraditional Student site
(Page one ( How to apply and more...)  and Page two (More about the FAFSA and more...) and you are ready to go.

And it doesn't hurt to go to your local Employment office and ask about what might be available for you in terms of work training. You never know!

Just saying.

Here is a bit about me: I am a former Nontraditional Student and Grant "Winner" who never did apply for #scholarships (YET), but who decided to share and research them just in case she wanted to later.

I love to blog, so added this to my other pages. I hope they are helpful.

Post here if you have some other sites YOU like too.

Winning a scholarship - try for a LARGE one!

Question: if you are going to search for a scholarship, why not try for a big one?
Here are a few articles and pages about winning a LARGE scholarship.

#1: (From Scholarships.com) - Largest Dollar Amount Scholarships - this page has three scholarships listed, one for $10,000, which is for a Create a Greeting Card Scholarship.

#2: One large scholarship is for Interior Design Students - learn how Angela Lauer won this $30,000 scholarship. This article is at the University of Texas at Austin's site.

#3. The Ruth Lilly Poetry Scholarship has been split into more than one scholarship. You can apply through Poetry Magazine. Find out more here at the Poetry Foundation site: http://www.poetryfoundation.org/foundation/prizes_fellowship.

#4. The Prestigious Scholarships and Fellowships page at the FinAid site lists some big scholarships like Apple Scholars ($2,000), the Buick Achievers Scholarship (25,000), the Collegiate Inventors Competition (25,000 Grand Prize), Davidson Fellows ($50,000), and more. Check it out here: Prestigious Scholarships and Fellowships.

There are more out there - send me the links you find! And sign up or search on some sites like FinAid, FreschFastAid, the Career OneStop Scholarship Search, FastWeb, BrokeScholar to find even more great (and big) links.

Good luck on your scholarship search!

Government Grants, Loans, and websites - from EHow

A video about Government websites and help

This is a surprisingly good video that gives some websites, info. on housing, applying for free grants, loans for small business, housing, education, disaster relief, scholarship info., phone numbers, and other information.

It is by the Consumer Credit Counseling Service. The Title is "Debt Relief and Management Tips: How to Apply for Free Government Grants, Loans and Scholarships."

The speaker, Maria Anamoto, (Or Marie Anne Amoto) has a bit of an accent, but I could understand her just fine.

Some sites mentioned in this video are Govloans.gov, studentaid.gov, and more. It is by the Consumer Credit Counseling Service. I hope you like it!
