2 recent and FREE tuition links - that could save you a LOT of money...

Wow - Making NEW postings on all my blogs is SUCH a great idea. It's been WAY too long.

I will share some great links I have found here and posted on the Nontraditional Student FB page.

They are definitely of interest.

Here is the first one: New York University offers free tuition to all medical students!
https://abcnews.go.com/Health/york-university-offers-free-tuition-medical-students/story?id=57218662 (Video and article)

Also, EMU offers 2 years of free tuition to boost enrollment, retention
(Eastern Michigan!)

I hope that this will be helpful. I hope to update all my Nontrad and Scholarship links this year or next.

Scholarship postings on Google+ - lots of my links, plus some others.

I found a LOT of Google+ postings from this blog on Google+ when I searched for them today.

There are a few others there too. FYI: one of my favorite bloggers and Scholarship website makers, Francisco A Tomei Torres, posts:"Search Results / Nationally Coveted College Scholarship & Graduate Fellowships" at Fatomei.com - this is his main site.

My alma mater, WKU, posts: WKU offering Bonner scholarships - students are doing community service with groups such as the ALIVE Center locally.

From the website:
"Bonner Leadership Scholars complete 10 hours of community service, professional development and personal enrichment activities each week in exchange for their tuition scholarship.
Being able to offer a Bonner scholarship for service work is something new for WKU, but it is common to many campuses."

Then, Google talks about the Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship. "Congratulations to the 84 recipients and finalists of the Google Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship and Google Scholarship for Students with Disabilities in Europe, the Middle East and Africa—two scholarships aimed at encouraging underrepresented students to enter the computing field.

Find a list of all scholars: http://g.co/8jr2"

Sara Hill shares about more Google scholarships in North America, and says:
"Google Scholarships in North America - Now accepting applications! | Google Student Blog
The Knight Foundation posted about winners of the "FreeToTweet" Scholarship competition from the 1 For All Organization. "Writer Alex Knapp shares his favorite winning tweet: “I write out of passion. They sing for joy. He worships in love. She gathers in support. We petition in hope. We are #freetotweet.”" http://www.forbes.com/sites/alexknapp/2012/03/22/winners-announced-for-free-to-tweet-scholarships/.

So, going to Google+ IS worth it to find out more interesting #scholarships and #scholarship news.

Later!

Have a VACATION from doing scholarship searches...

I say, take a break right now.

It's the holiday season, after all. But keep organized anyhow.

Unless you have some Scholarship deadlines, that is.

Just an FYI, if you are serious about attending school, online or in person, it can be a great idea to look around for scholarships or grants.

I have some good links here, and also a video of how to fill out your FAFSA form.

Welcome to this blog, Nontraditional Students!

I wrote about this blog today on my Nontraditional Student blog

Students on computers. From garryknight on Flickr.

As you probably already know, a nontraditional student is a student who is going back to school after a break.

There are many opportunities today for nontrads to obtain scholarships. Often, "regular" scholarships and sites also have scholarships for nontraditional students available.

Just go to the Search area here and search for the kind of scholarship you want, to see other postings too. (the box is at the right side, near the top.)

And here are some postings to help nontraditional students and others get started on their scholarship search.

Fastweb: This free site is one of the BEST scholarship search sites on the internet.

The Fatomei Site also has some awesome links to free money. Of course, there are scholarships here, but there are also links to internship possibilities, graduate school money, fellowships, and lots more. Scroll down to see these.

And here are the five MOST POPULAR postings here on the site.

Veterinary School Scholarships

Unusual, odd, wacky, and unknown scholarships and sites to explore

35 Scholarships Anyone Can Get - from College Degree.com

Some Interior Design Scholarships (U.S.)

Scholarships, grants, and more links for Native Americans

Some Scholarship blogs, and a link for Eagle Scout Scholarships

I went to search for "scholarship blogs" and found some interesting ones today.

It looks like people can save money for college on the UPromise Blog.

http://www.upromise.com/welcome. This blog is made by Sallie Mae.

Scholarships.com also has a blog here:

Scholarships.com blog

The only thing about this one is you can't sign up for it to get updates. I think they should add that.

The Top Scholarship Blog has some good links on it.

But you need to bookmark it (like the Scholarships.com one) because there is no signup here either.

___________________________

And here is something interesting - it's a link to "Where to find scholarship money for Eagle Scouts." This could be handy.

Good luck on your scholarship search, everyone!

A few music scholarship pages (U.S.) to check out

Love music? You can find music scholarships at many colleges across the nation.

Check a school near you. It is possible you can audition with voice or instrument to get a scholarship. Just ask someone in the music department.

Secondly, apply for a Music Scholarship at your choice of school.

The FAFSA application (see here for a great new tips video about that) is your first avenue. They have scholarships and grants that they will tell you about when you fill it out if you qualify.

Here are just a few links to get your started on that dream music scholarship.

Financial Aid at Juilliard (Dance - Drama - Music)

Interlochen Center for the Arts  Programs (grades 6-12)

The Oberlin Conservatory of Music is very prestigious. Check out their scholarship page too.

Check out the Wikipedia listing of colleges and university schools of music in the United States. You can click on your state to find out more.

What is your favorite music college? Just go to the site, and check their Scholarships and Financial Aid pages. And good luck!

More good and researched Scholarship sites

It's nice to find some more researched scholarship sites to add to my list.

A 2008 Yahoo Voices article by Shannon Lausch lists some familiar sites (Fastweb) along with some not-so-familiar ones, such as College Net and College Data.

She even lists their BBB (Better Business Bureau) statuses, which I found helpful. This article also helps you rate other websites and find out if they are legitimate, or just scam-type sites.

You can check out the article here: How to Find Great College Scholarship Web Sites - Yahoo Voices.

The Planning and Preparing for College blog - it is great.

Have you discovered the Planning and Preparing for College blog?
It has LOTS of great scholarship information.
Here is the link: http://www.ctherd.blogspot.com/

I have had the link to this site here on the side of my blog for awhile, and recently I went to check it out again. It had even more great resources than I remembered!

The Planning and Preparing for College blog has lots of information about different types of scholarships, internships, links to different financial aid websites, practice test links, college preparatory updates, community service website links, FAFSA info., and more.

This site is for all ages. Be sure to check each scholarship for age requirements though, because some are for younger students. It's a great site to have in your arsenal as you look for scholarships and more.

Take some time, and go through some of these scholarships, or search for your state or interest. I think you are going to like it.
